So… Why Do They Call Him “Twigs”?
If you’ve ever wondered how Travis Gibbins—the owner of Twigs Co.—ended up with a nickname that sounds like it belongs on a tree branch, you’re not alone.
Around here, Travis is much more commonly known as “Twigs.” And if you ask him how he got the name, he’ll be more than happy to tell you the story.
Back in high school, Travis was known as “Sticks,” thanks to his talent behind the drums and percussion. He had the rhythm, the timing, and apparently a nickname to match. Some of his old high school band friends still call him Sticks to this day.
Then one weekend, everything changed.
Travis was hanging out with some friends when a new girl—who had just arrived at Dumas High School—met him for the first time. As his buddies introduced her to Travis, she took one look at him, chuckled, and delivered the line that would forever change his nickname:
“Sticks? He looks more like TWIGS to me.”
Well… his buddies thought that was hilarious.
And, as tends to happen when a group of high school guys finds something funny, they absolutely refused to let it go.
From that day forward, “Sticks” was history.
TWIGS was born.
And decades later, the name stuck—literally.
So now you know the story behind Twigs Co. It started with a pair of drumsticks, a quick-witted new girl, and a bunch of friends who knew a good nickname when they heard one.
Come to think of it, he probably should've seen it coming.
